Alfa Romeo is a car maker many Indonesians are not familiar with. The Italian (sport) car maker was once popular in Asian countries such as Singapore, Hong Kong and Taiwan back up till the late 80's. The automaker was founded in 1910, which was sold to Fiat in 1986.
After missing for a long while worldwide, with the recent joint venture formed between Fiat and Chrysler, it seems that Alfa Romeo will soon again appear in the marketplace.
Up till today, there are no clear decision yet if the Alfa Romeo brand will still be the lower price Italian sport cars it once was. However, it seems that the parent company has confirmed to bring into life a full size Alfa Romeo SUV, based on the latest Grand Cherokee and the Mercedes Benz ML class. 3.6-liter Pentastar V6 engine, as well as a diesel have been chosen so far, and to be launched as the 2014 model.
